Plain-language summary of how MacBid operates.

Nothing here is for sale

Listing is free, and there is no way to pay for a position, a badge or a mention. There are no sponsored slots and no affiliate links. Nobody has to own an app to list it, and listing your own buys you nothing: the description comes from the app’s own page and the facts come from its bundle, so there is nothing on a listing for a submitter to influence.

This was not always true. Placement used to be sold, and the reasoning for both the original design and the change is on the about page. If placement is ever sold again it will be a clearly labelled slot, and these terms will say so before anything is charged.

What the facts are, and are not

Every fact on a listing is read from a source and carries the date it was read. Nothing here is scored, rated, ranked by our judgement or endorsed. A fact we have not established is left blank rather than guessed, so a blank field is not a finding about an app.

Readings can be wrong or go out of date — an app ships a new version, a pricing page moves. Corrections are welcome at the address below and are the fastest way to fix one.

What you may list

• Software that runs on macOS, which you own or are authorised to promote.
• No malware, no misrepresentation of what an app does, no adult content, no chat or invite links, and no affiliate or tracking URLs.
• You are responsible for the accuracy of what you submit and for the app on the other end of the link.

Removal

Listings that break these terms may be hidden or removed. A developer who would rather their app was not listed can say so at the address below and it will be taken down.
