Every other Mac app directory ranks by something it asks you to trust — downloads, stars, an editor’s taste, an algorithm nobody publishes. MacBid ranks by the one number it can show you in full: what each app’s owner paid to sit where it sits.

There are no ads, no sponsored slots dressed up as recommendations, and no revenue share. The ranking is the advertising, and the price of every position is printed next to it.

Why apps are already on it

The board launched populated rather than empty. Those listings are real Mac apps sitting at $0, ordered by Homebrew’s published 30-day install counts — a number anyone can check, rather than one we invented. None of them has paid anything, and any bid at all outranks the entire set.

What you get

A position, for as long as nobody outbids it, and the clicks that come with it. Nothing more is promised. Read the rules before you bid — particularly the part where payments are not refundable.
